Classroom Au Pair was founded in 2019 by Agnes Brandin, a former Area Director and Host Mom. During her time working with an au pair agency, Agnes repeatedly saw her au pairs struggle to find classes that suited their interests, fit their demanding schedules, or were covered by the educational stipend. Many were eager to explore subjects like journalism, acting, law, or fashion—only to be disappointed by the lack of accessible options.
Frustrated by her inability to help them, Agnes decided to take matters into her own hands.
At the time, she was also working as a Higher Education Professional at a university in New York City. This dual role gave her a unique perspective—and the perfect opportunity—to bridge the gap between au pairs and quality educational experiences. Driven by her passion for both education and cultural exchange, Agnes launched Classroom Au Pair: a platform that partners with accredited post-secondary institutions across the country to offer weekend courses tailored specifically for au pairs.
Though no longer an Area Director, Agnes remains deeply committed to supporting au pairs through education. Her love for cultural exchange is personal—she’s half-Polish, half-Swedish, was once a cultural exchange student in NYC, and later an international college student. These experiences continue to inspire her mission: making enriching, accessible learning opportunities available to au pairs nationwide
