Our Story

Classroom Au Pair was founded in 2019 by Agnes Brandin, former Area Director and Host Mom. While working for an au pair agency, she kept seeing her au pairs struggle to find classes they liked, that worked with their busy work schedules or were covered by their educational stipend. Many of them were interested in courses such as journalism, acting, law or fashion, and were disappointed in not being able to find any. Frustrated over not being able to help her au pairs, Agnes decided to take matters into her own hands.

Working as a Higher Education Professional at a NYC University, alongside her role as an Area Director, enabled her to easily transition her focus to classes for au pairs. Her passion for education and cultural exchange led her to create Classroom Au Pair, where together with accredited post-secondary institutions around the country, she plans, and designs weekend courses specifically designed for au pairs.

No longer an Area Director, but excited over being able to combine higher education work with au pairs. Her love for cultural exchange stems from being half-Polish and half-Swedish and having been a cultural exchange student in NYC over 20 years ago, as well as an international student in college.
