COURSE DESCRIPTION

Are you planning on going to College in the US after your au pair year is over? Unless you come from an English-speaking country, you will most likely need to take an English test. The TOEFL test (Test of English as a Foreign Language), is a standardized test that measures the English language ability of non-native speakers wishing to enroll in English-speaking universities. The test is accepted by more than 11,000 universities and other institutions in over 190 countries and territories. Every university has a minimum score that you need to get in order to be accepted.

In this course, you will learn the skills and the strategies that could help you achieve a high score on the TOEFL. The TOEFL iBT® test has four sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing. This Preparation course will strengthen your linguistic skills: reading, listening, speaking, and writing and academic skills: note-taking, skimming, scanning, paraphrasing, and summarizing. The instructor uses the latest authentic and published exams content. During the test, you will perform tasks that combine the four English communication skills: read, listen and then speak in response to a question, listen and then speak in response to a question and read, listen and then write in response to a question. This class will help you to build your linguistic and academic competencies.

Please note: The price of the TOEFL test itself is NOT included. To view prices and register for the TOEFL test, go here.

ASSIGNMENTS & COMPLETION CERTIFICATE

This class will take place every Saturday for 4 weeks, from 10:00AM – 3:00PM

There are no pre- and follow-up assignments, but instead you will have weekly homework. The entire course will give you 36 hours, 20 hours will be in-person, and 16 hours will consist of homework.

You will be invited to join Google Classroom 2 weeks before class starts, which is the platform we use for all our classes. Check your spam folder, as invitations to join Google Classroom sometimes end up there. Please make sure you register for the course with a valid email address, since this is where you will receive the invitation. Your email has to be Google compatible, so it’s best to use gmail, outlook, hotmail or yahoo. If you do not receive a notification to join Google Classroom, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to contact us.

It is NOT possible to receive your certificate early for our TOEFL class. This is a 4-week class and certificates will be awarded once class has officially concluded and all assignments have been successfully completed.
