Cruise & Capture: Photography in the Bahamas and at Sea
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA | BIMINI & NASSAU, BAHAMAS
ROYAL CARIBBEAN CRUISE | JEWEL OF THE SEAS
$1,095 | IN-PERSON | 72 hours (equivalent to 6 credits)
+ registration fees
This immersive photography cruise course takes place aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas, with port stops in Bimini and Nassau. The course combines experiential learning with academic instruction, using the ship and island destinations as real-world classrooms where students explore photography as a tool for visual storytelling, cultural observation, and creative expression.
The course begins in Miami Beach, where students will get to know one another while capturing the city’s energy through guided photo prompts focused on vibes, visuals, and cultural detail. Students will experience Miami’s iconic landmarks and Cuban heritage through a visit to Little Havana, and participate in a fun, beginner-friendly salsa & bachata lesson in South Beach.
Following the Miami introduction, the course continues onboard the cruise ship, where students will practice photography daily through structured lessons, creative challenges, and reflection activities.
Throughout the course, students will explore the fundamentals of photography—such as composition, lighting, framing, and capturing motion—while developing the ability to communicate a message through images. Daily lessons and guided photo challenges encourage au pairs to document moments, places, and people with intention, building confidence behind the camera and strengthening their personal storytelling style.
Students may use a smartphone or camera. No prior photography experience is required. By the end of the course, participants will have created a curated mini photo collection that reflects their cruise journey and demonstrates growth in both photography skills and visual storytelling.
